Catalogue of the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from April 2 to August 3, 1997; at the British Museum in London from October 3, 1997 to February 1, 1998; and at the Field Museum in Chicago from October 2, 1999 to January 16, 2000.

To celebrate the Maison’s 150th anniversary, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the British Museum presented the exhibition Cartier 1900–1939 which traced the development of Cartier design from the beginnings of modern style until the eve of the Second World War. Judy Rudoe, renowned curator of the British Museum, and Stewart Johnson, from the Met department of Design, carried out extensive research to produce this major reference catalogue.
