This work by the jewelry expert and gemmologist Hans Nadelhoffer is a republication of the first reference book on Cartier’s history, which came out in 1984. It is the result of several years of research carried out within the archives of Paris, London and New York, as well as interviews with former designers and other specialists, collectors and representatives of international institutions. The various richly illustrated chapters provide an overview of the Maison’s designs, of its prestigious clients and, more broadly, of society from the 19th century until the end of the 1970s.
