The exhibition examined Cartier’s creativity and timepiece history from the angles of design, architecture, and aviation. The curator and renowned architect Norman Foster looked back on the effervescent era that saw the birth of the first modern wristwatches, around three pioneering figures: Louis Cartier, Alberto Santos-Dumont, and Gustave Eiffel. The catalogue looks to philosophers, historians, actors, and watchmaking specialists to recount the spirit, expertise and lifestyle that animate the Maison’s iconic timepiece creations.
